Our 4th grade students at Adams Elementary have been involved with several sustainability activities throughout the school year. We participated in the Hope in Action Conference that was put on by Partners for Sustainable Schools. We have partnered with this organization, as well as, the Walama Restoration Project to create awareness around sustainability for fourth graders. This year, we had guests come and present to our class for several class sessions. An example of an activity that we were involved in was helping to recycle computers with the help of the Next Step Recycling group here in Eugene. We chose to participate in the parachute project because it fit in well with our study of sustainability. It was a fun and engaging way to create awareness around the ways that we, as humans, have an impact on climate change. -Imelda Cortez, 4th grade teacher
