I am a local politician and I have been organizing Climate Action Rallies as well as introducing a resolution to our Town Council declaring a Climate Emergency. We have already taken a number of important steps such as converting all street lighting to LED, installing solar panels on our arenas, implementing an energy saving program for all municipal buildings, constructed our libraries, firehalls and public works buildings to LEED standards and we are recognized as a Bicycle Friendly Community. Community engagement is our next big focus and the Climate Rallies are just the start. I sent a donation for 5 parachutes and would like 5 for us to design and paint. We are an amalgamated Town with 2 separate communities of Georgetown and Acton. So far we have concentrated on Georgetown but we need to get to Acton next.
